Without him what would the 70's be? His music and talent will be greatly missed...

Imagine what life would be like if each of us contributed as much beauty as Kenny did.
He was only human, but he made the world a better place - and, his contributions will live on.
It is my good fortune that our paths crossed, and I treasure the memory.

Berkeley's Freight and Salvage Dec. 5, '09. A great venue with superb acoustics for Kenny, Karla and Nina.
All of the vinyl I still have from high school and college in the 70s with Kenny and Karla's imprint on them made me want to go out to see them that night... people who are just so good at what they do. It was a pleasure, a perfect show, and my spouse from a younger generation and another country (NZ) enjoyed the show just as much even without the element of nostalgia.
There will always be a thread that connects the talented people who create music and the people who love to hear it. Thank you to Kenny for all that he shared with us.

I saw Kenny Edwards along with Karla Bonoff at the Don Gibson Theater in Shelby, NC. in the spring of 2010. Kenny accompanied Karla during her set. Kenny did a wonderful set of his own. Their vocal duets were wonderful.
After the concert I was blessed to have both autograph Karla's "Wild Heart of the Young". Kenny produced the album.
In the 60's, 70's, and early 80's I was a liner note freak and saw Kenny's name on many albums.
Thank you Kenny for being so gracious in signing Karla's album for me.
God Bless You!

Read as Closing Words at
The Memorial of Kenny Edwards

And do I die?

How should I die?
My atoms
are the same that existed
on the first day of the universe.
My elements
are identical with the make-up of
the stars.

I am one with all that is,
and my…life a comet's trail
across the starry universal night.

I do not die.
My elements are scattered.
New lights, new comets' trails will use them.
There is, because of me, a new note in the song
sung by the morning stars.

God bless Kenny Edwards! What a great, great talent. We'll all miss him but I can't stop thinking of his "musical family", especially Karla, Wendy and Andrew.

Such passings remind us we're only on this earth for a short time. Do well to others and sing a joyful tune... one of Kenny's!

RIP Kenny Edwards

I knew Kenny well in the 60's. He showed enormous sensitivity and taste even as a very young man and then went on to inspire those around him both spiritually and musically.

Kenny was trusting enough to let me record one of his songs, even though my style was different from his. I'm grateful that there's something lasting as I grieve. Condolences to all the family and friends who remained close to him.

I'm very sad to hear of Kenny's passing. As a bass player I've always been a big fan of his since first hearing his great playing on those classic Linda Ronstadt records. He will be missed!

It's been a number of years since we have seen Kenny. But we always hold him dear to our hearts and the fond memories we have of him. Not just a wonderful musician, but a fun, sweet, caring, and great human being! He was,and is, someone we are so grateful we knew. I am just happy to know he was able to play his music right up until the end and I know heaven rocks because he's there!!!

I have always watched Kenny on stage, his expressions, his moves. What a wonderful guy. And what wonderful memories I will have. No one has mentioned this here, but I imagine that not only Karla and Wendy are grieving but Linda Ronstadt, too, who knew Kenny before the others and who loved him so much. They were practically kids when they hooked up. She must be extremely broken up. May all of you be comforted and may the Buddhist soul in Kenny soar forever. Love, Lisa

I remember Kenny in 1969 when he came to visit our first born son Teddy who was sleeping in his crib. Kenny was just back from India and full of the wonder of the adventure. I will never forget this thoughtfulness in paying that visit and can only say that we , all of our extended family wish him everlasting, eternal bliss in paradise. 'God speed' Kenny Edwards the great man that you will always be thought of as being.

Sorry to hear of Kenny's passing. I've been a fan for years. I never got to hear him play live. I went to see Bryndle and the show was canceled (and I gave Andrew Gold some grief about that...).

God Speed, Kenny. Thanks for the music.

It's the bassists and the trombonists who often do the arranging, the planning - and the dishing off of solos. Kenny was an inspiration - his harmonies on ''When Will I Be Loved'' and any number of terrific Karla Bonoff songs will stick with me forever. RIP, Kenny. You are the bandleader and star in my book.

I heard Kenny for years behind Linda R ~ then a friend turned me onto Bryndle in 1996, which I loved ~ and then eventually our paths crossed in Lyons, CO a few years back, and I had the pleasure of chatting with him at length. His smile, sense of humor, and general loveliness are what I most remember next to his music. Heart tears today upon hearing of the passing of this sweet lovely man ...

Kenny introduced me to Transcendental Meditation in 1970. He was perfect for me: long, floppy, curly hair and a mauve bell bottom suit, sparkly eyes and a wicked sense of humor. 40 years later, I am still using the mantra he gave me that day in Westwood. For years, I longed to meet him again to thank him for the powerful, positive influence he has had on my life. I finally had the opportunity this year when he synchronistically became involved with a psychologist and meditation techer where I work. Our conversations were deep and soulful, spanning the four decades between our encounters. Before I met my wife, Sharon, she had also met Kenny in the 60's when she was living in a Santa Barbara commune and Kenny was touring with the newly-formed Stone Ponies. The three of us recently formed a deep connection, and Sharon and I were looking forward to continuing our new friendship with this remarkable and talented man. His soul shines through the beautiful music on his new album. His passing brings great sadness.

Some of the most memorable experiences in my life happened when I had the privilege of playing keyboards opposite Kenny's guitar and mandolin in Tom Kell's band. I'll never forget the feelings his rich harmonies and melodic leads produced in me. He was one special and intuitive musician, and one special guy. My family and I will miss him very, very much.

I have much gratitude an awe for who you were, Kenny. You introduced me at the age of 16 (you were 17) to so many wonderful and new kinds of music - from bluegrass greats, indian sitar, django rheinhart, koto, == what a gift! your strong spirit is out there in alot of people.

We love Kenny, the memories of Kenny and Karla in small venues will live on in this life and the next. Easy to say death is just a part of life, we can't help but be attached to those souls who touch ours. Sadness turns and Kenny says 'gonna let it go.' But not just yet. You are loved, my brother. Thank you for all the love you shared.

Dear Kenny,
it is with great sadness that I read the message this morning. I had the pleasure to recently exchange some e-mail with you personally. I appreciated you as an artist long since gone in the seventies when your harmony vocals with Linda Ronstadt taught me a lot. I would have never imagined to have the chance to get in touch with you. Thank you for your music and for your kindness. May you rest in peace; music lives forever. My condolences to the family.

Kenny,
You will be missed! The world has lost a gentle soul and a truly talented and gifted artist. I was looking forward to that day we talked about in the studio and so sorry it never came to pass. But somehow I know that the echoes of your presence that day will continue to resonate at least in my heart and mind everytime I fire up that mixing board and press RECORD!

In 1995, I was flipping through the pages of my latest BMG Music Club flyer and came across something called "Bryndle". The album described how the four band members had joined in the 1960s but never made an album, and had been performing all individually with their own bands and projects for years. Bryndle reunited the quartet, and, as BMG said, the results were worth hearing. I thought, why not? I knew Karla Bonoff from her one top 40 hit, "Personally," but I hadn't heard of the other band members. Still, I ordered it, curious.

For two years, I listened to nothing else. Every song related to my life in some way, directly or indirectly. It were as if the four of them--Andrew, Karla, Wendy, and Kenny--had heard my heart calling to them and wrote this incredible, perfect album of harmony and grace.

Thank you, Kenny. I'm sorry I never got to tell you in person. But I know as your energy was released across the universe, it passed through all of us, mingled with the energies of our departed loved ones, and made the world a little bit of a better place to live. I will miss you, Kenny, but I'll always have "Bryndle". Thank you.

I too became a fan of Kenny's in the 70's.I always felt his vocals were an integral part of the Bonoff and Ronstadt sound..it's strange just last week I looked up Karlas Music on youtube and listened to some old favs..and then I see Kenny passed. My Prayers go out to Family and Friends. Thanks for the great music and memories! You will be missed. PEACE

I am still in disbelief about the passing of Kenny. I am amazed at how quickly we lost him. I saw him with Karla at a quaint venue in VA outside DC about 5 years ago. What a great musician he was and a talented part of Karlas's show. She must be devastated...My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends and fans during this time of sadness.
He will be missed dearly.

I just met Kenny this year when he played along side my old pal Freebo, of which I was the host, at a songwriter showcase in Hermosa Beach, CA. A gentle giant ... was my first impression. And when he played his songs, you could tell they came from a deep place of wisdom and experience. We miss you already Kenny.

It's just unbelievable that within the span of one week we lost two of my musical heroes, Richie Hayward of Little Feat and now Kenny Edwards. I've had the pleasure of seeing and hearing Kenny perform many times since the 70's and did meet Kenny briefly a couple of times while on tour with Karla. He and his talent will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear about Kenny's death. Boy, as an outsider, it seemed to be diagnosed and death happened so fast. I truly enjoyed his music and Resurrection Road is fabulous. I hope he realized his impact on today's music and what a great influence he was on Miss R's career.
Kenny will be missed, I'm sure, in his circle of friends and family; but as an outsider like me, he will also be missed.
May he rest in peace and God Bless Kenny.

I never met Kenny. But I saw him perform with Karla Bonoff twice near Washington, DC, and I've spent many hours listening to their music.

Kenny was an outstanding musician. His guitar playing was precise and passionate. And while I don't know how much to credit him versus Karla B., several of the songs they created together are as powerful and moving as popular music gets.

Sadly, it's too late to express my appreciation to Kenny. But to all of you who had anything to do with Kenny's life and his work -- thank you. Directly or indirectly, you have made my life better. And, now, sadder.

My heart is broken. While Kenny may not have been a household name,he was the rock that caused so many wonderful ripples, the light that shined on the public stars, the foundation that held up the house of the singers, songwriters and musicians I cut my teeth on.
